Endocrine system and your hormones. What you need to know!
Are your hormones being attacked?
Hormones are produced in organs and glands in the body; this is called the Endocrine system. The Endocrine system keeps our body in balance, maintaining good health and development.
Hormones play a vital role in every bodily function. From waking up to going to sleep. Feeling hungry, feeling full, and feeling happy or sad.
Feeling unwell can happen at any time. Viruses, infections, accidents and illness can cause us to feel unwell. This happens to everyone and usually passes with time. If you cannot get to the bottom of your health concerns or you have hormonal imbalances, then it may be worth considering the Endocrine System.
Natural balance can be challenged for several reasons.
- Nutrition and hormones cannot balance without the correct nutrients to allow them to be produced.
- Synthetic hormones ie: The Pill
- Endocrine attackers. These chemicals and heavy metals are found in many everyday places and are literally attacking our bodies. Chemicals sprayed onto our crops, body lotions, shower gels and fire retardant sprays are just some of them.
Our skin is our largest organ, so what is absorbed through our skin will have an effect on our Endocrine System and therefore affect our hormones and health.
Chemicals in body lotions play a part in how well our bodies function, so being careful about just what we are using is an important step in restoring hormone health.
Bisphenol A (BPA) & S (BPS): Found in plastics, water bottles, and food can linings; linked to organ damage and metabolism issues.
Phthalates: Used to make plastics flexible; found in toys, food packaging, and cosmetics.
Pesticides: Including Chlorpyrifos, Atrazine, and Glyphosate used in agriculture.
Industrial Chemicals/Pollutants: PCBs, dioxins, and flame retardants.
Personal Care Products: Parabens and other chemicals in cosmetics and lotions
Memory foam pillows and mattresses break down over time and emit vapours, which can cause a challenge to hormone balance.
It seems that these endocrine attackers are everywhere!
Check out labels, avoid heating food in the microwave in plastic containers.
Don’t reuse drinking water bottles that are one-use only.
Small changes can make a big impact.
